Starting a horse under saddle is part of your horse's first logical sequence of training. This 1 full-month training program for your horse starts with preparing him in proper grooming behavior. It then moves to lounging, saddling and bridling, the first ride, and teaching the basics.

A good trail horse will allow you to cue him step-by-step on obstacles that require it, while negotiating other obstacles by himself. The key to training a successful trail horse is to start slowly and teach the horse to obey cues to maneuver through an obstacle. This is opposed to letting the horse anticipate and perform the pattern of an obstacle — or perform an obstacle by habit.

Anticipation can cost you points in tough competition. This 1-month training program for your horse provides a sound trail foundation that will improve over time. Additional advance training can be purchase and includes trailer training and actual on the trail experience for both horse and rider.
